AfyaPonea is a global patient health platform that provides AI-powered tools to help patients understand their health, fight insurance denials, audit medical bills, and navigate their care journey.

2. What information we collect
We collect the following categories of information:
A) Information you give us directly:
- Your email address when you create an account
- Health descriptions and symptoms when using our AI tools
- Lab results you paste into our Lab Result Interpreter
- Medical bills you paste into our Bill Auditor
- Insurance denial letters you paste into our Denial Crusher
- Insurance policy text you paste into our Policy Decoder
B) Information collected automatically:
- Pages you visit on AfyaPonea
- Device type and browser (for improving the site)
- Usage counts per tool per month (for enforcing free tier limits)
C) Information we do NOT collect:
- Your national ID or government ID number
- Your payment card details (handled securely by payment processors)
- Your medical records or official diagnosis documents
- Your precise location
3. How we use your information
We use your information only for the following purposes:
- To power our AI health tools and generate responses for you
- To track your monthly usage and enforce free tier limits
- To manage your account and subscription
- To send you transactional emails (account confirmation, password reset)
- To improve our platform based on how people use it
We do NOT use your information for:
- Selling to third parties
- Insurance underwriting or risk scoring
- Targeted advertising
- Any purpose you did not consent to
4. Health data — special protections
Health data is the most sensitive category of personal data. We treat it with the highest level of care.
- Text you paste into our tools (lab results, bills, denial letters, symptoms) is processed in real time to generate your results and is NOT stored permanently in our database
- We never share individual health information with any third party without your explicit consent
- We never use your health data for advertising, profiling, or any commercial purpose
- Our AI processing is powered by Anthropic's Claude API — your input is sent to their API to generate a response. Anthropic's privacy policy governs that processing.
5. How we share your information
We share your information only in these limited circumstances:
- With Supabase (our database provider) who stores account data securely under strict data processing agreements
- With Anthropic when you use our AI tools — your input is sent to their API to generate a response
- With Vercel (our hosting provider) for serving the website
- With our payment processor when you upgrade to Pro
- With law enforcement or regulators if required by applicable law
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party for commercial purposes.
6. Cookies and tracking
AfyaPonea uses minimal tracking:
- We use anonymous analytics (Google Analytics) to understand which pages are popular and how people use the site. This does not identify you personally.
- We do not use advertising cookies or tracking pixels
- We do not use Facebook Pixel, Google Ads tracking, or similar advertising tools
You can disable cookies in your browser settings without affecting your ability to use AfyaPonea.
7. Data retention
We keep your data only as long as necessary:
- Account information: kept while your account is active, deleted within 30 days of account deletion request
- Usage counts: reset monthly, kept for 12 months for billing purposes
- Health tool inputs (lab results, bills, etc): NOT stored beyond your session
- Analytics data: kept in aggregated, anonymous form

8. Your rights
Regardless of where you are in the world, you have the following rights:
- Right to be informed — you have the right to know what data we hold about you
- Right of access — you can request a copy of all personal data we hold about you
- Right to rectification — you can ask us to correct inaccurate data
- Right to erasure — you can ask us to delete your data
- Right to object — you can object to us processing your data for certain purposes
- Right to withdraw consent — you can withdraw consent at any time

9. Data security
We take the security of your data seriously:
- All data is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections
- Our database uses Row-Level Security — each user can only access their own data
- We do not store payment information — payments are handled by our payment processor
- We use industry-standard security practices and conduct regular reviews

10. Children's privacy
AfyaPonea is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@afyaponea.com and we will delete it promptly.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we make significant changes we will:
- Update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page
- Post a notice on the AfyaPonea homepage for 30 days
- Email registered users if the changes materially affect how we use their data
Continued use of AfyaPonea after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
